Charming antique biscuit advertising on wood for VanDerveer & Holmes Biscuit Co. on Vesey St. in New York. Fabulous graphics made to look like a fringed hanging banner with tassels on the sides. Old trademark shield graphics and old-fashioned lettering for AE-Crackers and Chocolate Spice Cakes. VanDerveer & Holmes was founded in 1885. It was one of the premier cookie and cracker bakeries of the time and a forerunner of National Biscuit Company and Nabisco. This is a paper label affixed to the end of a wood shipping crate, and part of the label on the left side is missing. Dark blue/navy background with mainly red and white printing. Entire piece measures 18.5 inches long by 8.75 inches high by 1 inch thick. There are two knot holes in the wood where the paper label is missing. This is not a reproduction.
