Fabulous large antique wood firkin or sugar bucket with awesome light yellow over original grey blue paint. Highly collectible mid-19th century wood staved firkin with finger lapped wood bands. Bentwood handle attached with wood pegs and original lid. Round lid is joined with wire and nails and has a bit of a gap between the two ends. Two finger lapped bands at the bottom and one at the top of the bucket in very good condition. Gorgeous chippy light yellow paint with original grey blue showing underneath. Handle moves easily to either side. Nice and clean unpainted wood inside. Measures 11.5 inches high without handle and 16 inches high including handle. Lid measures 11.5 inches in diameter and bottom measures 12 inches in diameter. Inside circumference of the bottom has thin finger lapped frame that is cracked and is coming loose. Lid has a crack between the joined boards on one side, and an area where the paint is chipped away and bare wood is visible .
