Rough bark canoes like this one are very collectible and hard to find. Made from elm bark, this one is not terribly old, probably made in the 1970s or 80s. Especially large and impressive, this vintage bark canoe is lashed together all around the top and ends with raffia. The inside is smooth shaped wood. There are two thin wood slats in the center and shaped wood corner pieces at each end. Created out of one large piece of elm bark (free of seams). Two pieces of thin wood trim decorate the top. Measures a whopping 35″ long and 9″ wide at widest point, 8″ high at ends. In great shape, with a few small chips to the bark on the ends. No cracks or broken pieces. Rounded bottom means it needs bracing to stand straight up. (Just put a small heavy object behind it that it can lean against.) We also have a similar smaller bark canoe featured in a separate listing. One or both would make a beautiful display in a rustic cabin, cottage or log home.
