My husband and I have been debating whether this is a cookie jar or bean pot, but whatever it is, it’s cute as a button. Very heavy pottery (ironstone?) with a lovely green speckled glaze. Small handles are molded onto the sides of the piece. Painted with a red, black and cream floral pattern on the front, but some of the color is worn away. Probably from the 1940s. Still a great decorative piece on a shelf or to actually put cookies in! One small chip in the glaze (or red paint mark) on the back. Stamped U.S.A. on the bottom, the round jar stands about six inches high and is about nine inches in diameter. May be McCoy, but unmarked.
