Aren’t these fabulous? Can’t believe we found this pair of vintage oak snowshoe chairs in Western New York! We bought them at an estate sale and they were previously lovingly cared for at the family’s cottage on Georgian Bay. Beautifully designed and constructed of bent/steamed oak and natural rawhide, these rare snowshoe chairs were individually handmade by skilled craftsmen, using the same methods that were used for making wood snowshoes. We are almost certain they were made by the SnoCraft Company of Norway, Maine, in the 1960s or 70s. They are in excellent condition with a beautiful golden patina to the aged oak. The wood frames are strong and sturdy and the rawhide webbing completely intact. Each chair measures 33 inches high by 21 inches wide by 26 inches deep. We just love the curving graceful lines of these light yet durable and comfortable chairs. They would be the perfect addition to a cabin, ski chalet, or log home.
