[pinterest count=”horizontal”] Believe it or not, this stately vintage Canada goose is actually a decoy. Made of heavy waxed cardboard, there is a label inside that reads, “Johnson’s Folding Stake-Out Decoys”. Probably made in the 1950s, though the company goes back to the early 1900s. This one still has its internal triangular metal frame, but someone has attached it to a block of black painted wood to make a fabulous display piece. The head and neck fold down. There is tape residue on the back side at the neck, but the front is in good shape. No tears or rips, though a little stained in lighter areas. You can tell the goose was used as a decoy, as there is mud residue on the bottom of the inside. This big boy stands about 30 inches high and is 22 inches long. As you can see in the photos, his neck leans a little when viewed from the front or back, but he looks great from the side. Can’t you just see him standing guard over the Christmas tree on a credenza or sofa table? (We wound the evergeen bough around his neck, which you can do easily. The goose does not come with the decoration.)
