Well, we don’t think it gets any better than this! We found this one-of-a-kind hand-painted, double-sided vintage fruits & vegetables farm sign at the Aberfoyle Antique Show in Guelph, Ontario and couldn’t believe our luck! The dealer we bought the sign from had purchased it from the family whose farm stand on Highway 8 in Beamsville was closing. The sign was hand-painted in the 1950s. Incredible red, yellow and green color with shadowed script and block lettering on a white background. Reads “Fresh Fruit & Vegetables” on both sides. One side is slightly more worn than the other due to weathering, but both are bright and readable. Two holes in the top for hanging. Two hooks protruding from the bottom held the Open/Closed sign, which was not found. Measures 26.5 inches wide by 18 inches high. Wood is about 3/4 of an inch thick. In excellent shape, with a few dents and dings here and there, but nothing significant. First three photos are of the “better” side and the second three are of the other side with just a little more paint loss. Absolutely original and not a reproduction. If this isn’t the perfect vintage sign to hang in a rustic kitchen, we don’t know what is; especially if you’re trying to get the kids to eat their fruits & veggies!
