Vintage UPCO Speckled Planter

SKU: 2004 Categories: , ,

Product Description

Beautiful Art Deco design to this vintage UPCO speckled planter in cream and brown. Though unmarked, we’re 99% sure this planter is UPCO as the speckles and glaze match exactly another planter we have in our collection that is marked UPCO USA. (See the second planter here: https://vintageadirondack.com/product/vintage-upco-speckled-basket-planter/) Very rare, this graceful and elegant horizontal planter has a classic design with swooping sides, an arched base, and handles on either end. We haven’t been able to find another one like it in an extensive Internet search. Measures 12 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep by 4 inches high. In absolutely perfect condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. UPCO is short for the Ungemach Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. Fred Ungemach began the company – at first named South Fork Pottery – in 1937. The design aesthetics were Art Deco, streamlined and futuristic. Together the two matching planters would make a fabulous retro statement. (See last photo for both planters together.)
